Week 1: The Office
Ok, so I'm watching the American TV series "The Office" for the first time. I started watching it with my husband when we were dating because it is his favorite TV show and it has become one of my favorites as well. I really like this show because the experiences they capture seem so realistic authentic. They don't try to make everyone look so glamorous and each episode is just another day in the life of this office, not some big, complicated, extravagant plot. I think a lot of TV series are popular because everyone looks so well-put together, and the plots are very elaborate. Maybe the actors are even more-attractive-than-average people. However, I think The Office is an example of how the audience will like a show because the plot and characters are more realistic which makes it more enjoyable to watch.
Hi! I really enjoyed your post! I totally relate to you- I had never before watched the office as much as I did when I started dating my husband. At first I thought it was the dumbest show and it would rarely make me laugh. But, as I have gotten more used to it, I (secretly) enjoy it and sometimes ask him to turn it on. I do agree with you that the office really is frank and candid. It doesn't hype everyone up or make any situation feel or look fake. It is a good show that you can kind of pick up from wherever and don't necessarily need any context to enjoy it or think its funny. Great post!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with what you said here! I recently binge watched the entire series myself (oops!) because I wondered what the hype surrounding it was. What you said about the characters being more realistic is absolutely true! While I don't work in an office--or have much else in common with the characters, really--it feels more relatable than most other shows.
ReplyDeleteI love the office!! Also one of my favorite shows. I never really thought of it the way that you described it but I totally agree. While we all know it isn't perfectly realistic, it does give a more realistic feel than other shows. I also love how well developed each character becomes. You really love each of them for different reasons. I have been listening to the Office Ladies podcast, which if you haven't already tried I would really recommend. So good and you learn so much more about the actors and the show adding a whole new layer to your love!
ReplyDeleteThe office is awesome! It definitely has a more authentic feel that creates more of a connection with its viewers. You can watch the office and then a couple days later do something that reminds you of something funny that happened in a certain episode. The characters all have flaws that many viewers may have as well. It is a show that I enjoy watching over and over again because it is humorous in a relatable way.
